My name is Bridget Kenney. I undertook my birth and post natal doula training with Nurturing Birth (a Doula UK accredited training organisation) in June 2007.

I live in a sleepy little village in rural Kent, not far from Tunbridge Wells and Maidstone. I am able to assist you if you live within a 25 mile radius - i.e. hospitals include Tunbridge Wells, Princess Royal Farnborough, Darent Valley, and the birthing centres at Crowborough and Maidstone, plus homebirths.

I have been fascinated with pregnancy and childbirth since the birth of my first son. My experiences of pregnancy and birth have been varied - exciting, scary, joyous, painful, disappointing and wonderful. I have personal experience of many medical interventions, including forceps, episiotomy, caesarean births and having a very premature infant. These events have all served to stimulate my interest in pregnancy and childbirth and I feel tremendous empathy with new and expectant parents.

I firmly believe pregnancy and childbirth has become over-medicalised - women have, after all, been giving birth for centuries. This is where the role of the Doula comes into the picture!
